Finding a new book that you love reading can be an eye-opening, mind-blowing experience, particularly for children and young adults. Vital to this is finding yourself reflected in the story you read, as well as discovering whole new worlds and your place within them. And more: research shows that reading for pleasure as a child is the biggest single indicator of future life chances as well as promoting empathy!

For all these reasons, Firefly is delighted to have funding from the Book Council of Wales’ and Creative Wales’ New Audiences Grant, which we are using to inspire and encourage authors from all backgrounds across Wales, publish new books by underrepresented writers, and bring them to as wide an audience as possible.
