Five Things to Look Forward to in 2014

We hope 2014 will be a very happy year for you. Here are some book-related things to put in your diary. If you have other events you think we should promote on our site, please let us know, we'd love to hear about them.

1. The wonderful Children's Laureate Malorie Blackman is director for the first ever YA Literature Convention at the London Film and Comic Con, 12-13 July 2014 - http://www.childrenslaureate.org.uk/yalc/

2. Cardiff Children’s Lit Fest - this was in March last year and was a great success. No dates for 2014 but it seems likely it is going to happen again and we suggest you follow them on twitter to be the first to know the programme. We will also put details on our website as we have them.

3. 2014 will see the centenary celebrations for Dylan Thomas. Literature Wales has an amazing schedule of events planned, including lots for children - http://www.developingdylan100.co.uk/ and http://www.literaturewales.org/dylan-thomas-x2014/

4. The inaugural XX women's writing festival was a great success in 2012 and returns this spring with an extended programme. Our publisher Penny is one of the team behind this. The festival is scheduled for March 7th and 8th at Chapter Arts Centre, Cardiff, with details to be released very soon. http://xxwales.wordpress.com

5. Firefly Press will publish its first books in May.  Well, we couldn’t really leave that out!
